A Verse to Memorise – Working Wholeheartedly
This is a verse that I recite to myself and others time and time again. It is the backbone of my philosophy to work hard, and part of what should be our Christian work ethic.
There are two key things I think we can get from this verse:
Do your best at everything
I try and simplify working heartily for my 6 year old often by just telling him to do his best. And because it says ‘whatever you do’ that means do your best at cleaning the toilets and dusting (conviction for me!) as well as the work that others see you do.
Work for God
It is easy to only do things well if you know that someone is going to see them, and do other things half heartedly. But if we realise that we should be doing our work for God who sees everything, then it can transform what we do.
I think this is a great verse to memorise because we can remind ourselves often of how God wants us to be doing our daily work, and if we have children, to remind them too!
Part of ‘A Verse to Memorise’ Mondays
Dear Rhoda! I see that today you started with your new blog-routine. Well, I think it is a great start. I am going to write this verse down in Dutch and memorize it. That way we – you and the readers of your blog – are all connected!
Thank you for this meaningful start of the week.
Kind rergards,
Annette
Yes I scheduled some to be posted as we travelled back on Monday! I’m glad you could write it down in Dutch and memorise it 🙂 My children are also memorising the same one!
