Visiting Southern California!

This week I am going to be in the USA for the Calvary Chapel Pastor’s Wives Retreat, which was amazing last time I went a few years ago!

Anyway my friend suggested that I could share on here the meet up that I’ve scheduled in case anyone who reads my blog and lives in California would like to go.
So here it is:
I will be at Starbucks Coffee Shop (God willing!) from 2-4pm on Saturday 12th October at this address: 27072 La Paz Road Aliso Viejo, CA 92656
You are welcome to meet me there if you are in the area!
On a completely different subject, I thought I would share a great verse that I read:

‘Do not envy the oppressor , and choose none of his ways. For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright.’ Proverbs 3:31,32
I love that – we are in God’s secret counsel! He chooses to share with us special things and has communion with us which the world knows nothing of.
But it also challenged me. Do I give enough time to get that secret counsel from God, to hear from Him when I meet with Him, to meditate on His Word so that He can speak to me.
I think often we can do our Bible reading and prayer, but have never really met with God. Maybe a bit like the difference between writing letters and meeting in person!
We need to stay long enough with Him that we hear what He is trying to teach us, and pray long enough that we really talk to Him.
There is a simple song which puts some of this into words:

Open our eyes, Lord,
We want to see Jesus,
To reach out and touch Him,
And say that we love Him.

Open our ears, Lord,
And help us to listen,
Open our eyes, Lord,
We want to see Jesus.

  1. You write well. I am always looking for regular contributors for Life & Liberty that focus on practical Christian spirituality. Check out ThornHeart.com and have a look a the work of Paul Walters and Jen Clark Tinker. If you are interested, get a hold of me. Monthly articles (written, video, or audio) would be great.
